Travel Photography – London Sunset

“London Sunset” – Here’s a shot that I took on the Tower Bridge looking over Thames River in London, England. I was on my way to photograph the bridge at blue hour, when I noticed this glorious sunset! The walkway along the river seemed to reflect the sun and highlighted the pedestrians below. You can never go wrong with a sunset! It’s funny how sometimes you’re set on capturing one specific shot, and then you end up discovering something new. It reminded me that I need to keep my eyes peeled for unforeseen bonus photos along the way. If you ever travel to London, make sure you explore what I call the “downtown area.” There you will find interesting architecture and plenty of iconic buildings to photograph. Again, this photo was taken from Tower Bridge giving you a great view of The Shard, River Thames and City Hall (the egg shaped building in the background.)

Post Processing “London Sunset” – I took three bracketed shots EV (-2, 0, +2) and combined the them in Lightroom to create an HDR image. Then I used Lightroom on a single exposure (EV, 0) to create a couple of different creative versions. Next I combined the original three EV (-2, 0, +2) RAW files into Photomatix to create another HDR version. Finally, I blended all my “versions” into Photoshop to get the final image!
