Photography | Amsterdam Nights
This is a photo that I took a few years back in Amsterdam. Taking cityscape images at night can be a little challenging at times. You have so many different light sources to compete with and a wide spectrum of colours. If your exposure runs too long things can look orange and blown out. Typically I try to use a wider aperture to allow more light in and cut down on my exposure time to avoid that orange look. (This image is shot at f5.6 and 30 seconds). When processing a night image I always start in Lightroom using the Creative Flow Lightroom Presets and Profiles to get the overall look and to finalize the image I bring it into Photoshop where I sharpen it and in this case applied a cooler profile in Camera RAW using the profiles.
Gear and Settings: To capture this image I used my Sony a7R2 with a 16-35mm lens F2.8. Settings: 30 sec, f/5.6, ISO 100. To process this digital image I used the Creative Flow Lightroom presets and profiles. I absolutely love the colour and grit of this Lightroom collection, it’s perfect for today’s digital photographer that wants a beautiful film look! Copyright: Tim Martin and Presetpro.com.
