Creative Edit: Goodnight New York. This is a shot that I took of the New York City Skyline. The photo was taken from across the Hudson River in Brooklyn. This night was one of my favorite memories from our trip. The hotel that we stayed at was located in Midtown. We chose this central neighborhood because we had tickets to see Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden. The show was absolutely amazing! What a thrill it was to hear him sing “New York State of Mind” live at Madison Square Garden. Anyways, back to the photo, I knew that I wanted this iconic shot from the second we booked the trip. On the third night, we hoped on the subway and got off in Brooklyn. I positioned myself in the ideal spot to capture the city. As the sun went down, I was amused to see that 6 other photographers had set up their cameras on either side of me. It reminded me that New York is truly a photographer’s playground. We never spoke to one another, but I couldn’t help but feel a sense of comradery among us. When the blue hour started, I began taking my shots.

Post Processing “Goodnight New York”: I did take three bracketed shots EV (-2, 0, +2) Then I combined the three exposures in Lightroom to make an HDR image. Next I created an HDR in Photomatix and Aurora HDR (Aurora my new fav HDR Software!!) Almost done… I created a couple of images using Lightroom presets and finally I took all my samples and mixed them in Photoshop! I usually take a couple of hours to mix the photos 🙂
